Interbike is an extremely interesting place to be, there are tons of bikes, and bike related stuff, but often the most interesting stuff that you find there is the stuff that resides on the side aisles. These are the dudes and dudettes that come with on shoe string and a prayer. Start-ups with an idea and tons of heart. One of the products that found us is something called Rocket Shower.
Dan and I were cruising the last aisle after four days of Interbike Overload, staring at the booths with glazed eyes, when we were accosted by an enthusiastic Booth denizen (a rare find on day five) and he was exclaiming, 'Have you experienced Rocket Shower?'
I allowed as that I had not. WE WERE SUCKED IN! Now it took me a good two months to test drive this product, but my initial experience proved pretty much on target.
Rocket Shower is a shower alternative. You are all hot and sweaty, you have run during lunch, or you have pedaled into work, but you have no shower facilities! You are presented with two choices: 1) Sit and Stink! or 2) Find a bathroom and use a weeks supply if paper towels for a pseudo sponge bath.
Rocket Shower affords you Magic Door #3! It is specifically designed to provide refreshing cleanliness when a shower is not an alternative, and it works! Now I am not telling you that if you can shower, that this is a substitute, but rather, if faced with lesser alternatives, it serves up an acceptable solution.
The deal is, cool down and once your active sweating has diminished, (The mfr claims it works best on active sweating but hey whaddo they know?) spray your self down with Rocket Shower and then damp towel yourself off. Comprised of witch hazel, grapefruit peel oil and peppermint oil, the product is refreshing, cooling and cleansing. It removes that sticky salty feeling and leaves your skin feeling dry and refreshed. Gone is that sandpaper rough feeling your dried sweat skin has against your clothes. The aroma is pleasant and quickly vanishes down to no fragrance at all, (Most importantly) not even your own!
Given the option, I would still opt for the shower and I am fortunate enough at work to have one, but I tried this product after running four miles over lunch on a 70 degree day. I was sweaty, hot and smelly. After Rocket Shower I was just fine. The stuff works and for a cube bound athlete without access to running water, it provides a viable solution for you and your co-workers.
